CHICKASHA – A $40,000 Central Business District building grant for renovations performed by Alora Real Estate at 411 W. Chickasha Ave. was recommended by the Economic Development Council and approved by the City Council.

Brock Hoffman, of Edmond, told Southwest Ledger he bought the building last July and has spent almost $144,000 to modernize it. A Realtor told him the building was constructed in 1907.

The first and second floors have been renovated and the third floor will be improved later, Hoffman said.

The first floor is reserved exclusively for retail – L&L Emporium operates an antique shop on the ground floor of the eastern half of the building, at 409 W. Chickasha Ave. – and the second floor will be devoted to offices space, he said.

Hoffman, 40, said he was born in Chickasha, has lived here “off and on for several years,” and has “flipped” a couple of houses in town besides his acquisition and rehabilitation of the building downtown.

“Alora” means “big dreams,” Hoffman said.
