From staff reports STILLWATER – Kim Anderson, Oklahoma State University Extension grain market economist, last week discussed the latest crop pricing. “There hasn’t been much movement at all in crop prices over the last couple of weeks, or maybe even over the last month,” he said.
Anderson noted that there isn’t much going on in the market to cause prices to rise or drop. “We have got the winter wheat crop. It is all planted and in relatively good condition both in the United States and around the world,” he said. “We have got the corn and soybean summer crop plantings coming up, but again, moisture is relatively good around. I think the market feels like they have got a good handle on things in the U.S. and the world, and there is just not much happening.”
Anderson said the USDA will release the Perspective Plantings report on Thursday, which contains estimates for all summer crops, such as spring wheat.
Additionally, it will contain final planting estimates for hard red winter wheat and soft red winter wheat.
According to Anderson, USDA’s Quarterly Grain Stocks report will also be released Thursday, informing us of the quantity of product in the bin or storage.
