The new concessionaire at Lake Lawtonka’s School House Slough will be Juan Rodriguez of Cache. The Lawton Water Authority approved an agreement authorizing him to operate the convenience store and fuel system until Dec. 31, 2029. The concessionaire will retain 100% of the fuel sales “as compensation for management of the fuel system,” and will keep 95% of the gross sales, remitting the other 5% to the Water Authority. Rodriguez will be responsible for the water and electric bills and for all repairs costing $1,000 or less.
The Lawton City Council condemned 13 more dilapidated and dangerous residential structures recently, including this abandoned house at 2417 SW J Ave., which has had no active water service for 4.5 years and was the scene of two fires last year. Other properties placed on the D&D list were 106 SW 18th Street, 201 NW Third Street, 215 NW Arlington Ave., 307 SW Washington Ave., 401 SW Summit Ave., 504 NW Bell Ave., 510 NE Patterson Ave., 1901 and 2110 SW N.H. Jones Ave., 2322 NW 38th Place, 2410 SW G Ave., and 1816 NW Arlington Ave. (where vagrants have been sleeping under a carport roof that’s laying on the ground, Neighborhood Services Supervisor Josh White said). Seven of the properties are owned by Lawtonians, four by out-of-state residents, and two by Oklahoma companies.
