The City of Lawton is drafting an updated 2050 Land Use Plan called “One Lawton.”
This updated plan will establish a vision for the community’s growth and provide a detailed blueprint to achieve that future. Serving as an official policy guide, the plan will support decisions on land use, development, quality of life, and more.
While a steering committee of of the plan, community engagement is the driving force behind this initiative.
“Citizen feedback is crucial to the success of One Lawton’s Land Use Plan 2050,” Lawton Planning Director Christine James said. “Our goal is to create a plan that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of our community. We need the voices of our residents to ensure that the plan we develop is comprehensive, inclusive, and visionary.”
One Lawton will primarily address future land use in the city, but it will not dictate or provide recommendations for specific building projects, James said. The full project scope will be made available soon.
