Oklahomans and other Americans are coping with rapid change in the workplace, and it isn’t easy.

Recent research by LinkedIn shows that almost twothirds of American workers feel overwhelmed by the pace of change. As the landscape shifts, nearly half (49%) of workers are worried about being left behind. Top challenges include adapting to flexible working, using artificial intelligence at work, and managing multigenerational teams Simultaneously, U.S. workers’ confidence in job security is the lowest it’s been since the start of the pandemic. But as the workplace continues to evolve, new opportunities appear, as LinkedIn’s annual “Jobs on the Rise” list shows.

From the rise of AI roles – three of the top 12 fastest-growing jobs – to the resurgence in travel and hospitality positions, the 2025 ranking highlights sectors with sustainable growth in today’s changing workplace.

1: Artificial Intelligence Engineer (design, develop and implement AI models and algorithms to optimize processes and solve complex problems). Most common industries: technology and internet, information technology services and IT consulting, computers and electronics manufacturing.

2: Artificial Intelligence Consultant (assist organizations with the adoption and integration of AI technologies to meet business goals and improve operations). Most common industries: technology and internet, IT services and IT consulting, business consulting and services.

3: Physical Therapist (assess and treat patients to help relieve pain, improve mobility and prevent or recover from injuries). Most common industries: medical practices, recreational facilities, staffing and recruiting.

4: Workforce Development Manager (design and implement training programs that allow employees to upskill in new or existing areas and align workforce capabilities with organizational needs). Most common industries: non-profit organizations, staffing and recruiting, business consulting and services.

5: Travel Adviser/Travel Agent (help plan and book travel arrangements – including transportation, accommodations and activities – based on clients’ preferences and budgets). Most common industries: travel arrangements, hospitality, insurance.

6: Event Coordinator (manage the planning and execution of social, corporate or nonprofit events, typically involving logistics like scheduling, vendor management and budget allocation). Most common industries: higher education, hospitality, nonprofit organizations.

7: Director of Development (oversee an organization’s fundraising strategy, from donor relations to portfolio management, in order to secure financial support for business projects or nonprofit activities). Most common industries: nonprofit organizations, higher education, civic and social organizations.

8: Outside/Field Sales Representative (sell products or services to prospective and existing clients through faceto- face interactions, building customer relationships and helping businesses achieve sales targets). Most common industries: wholesale building materials, machinery manufacturing, textile manufacturing.

9: Sustainability Specialist/ Environmental Analyst (analyze organization’s existing environmental and social impacts, and design strategies that mitigate potential harm and promote resource efficiency). The fastest-growing “green” jobs are wind turbine technician, solar consultant, sustainability manager, ecologist, and environmental health and safety specialist. Most common industries: business consulting and services, technology and internet, architecture and planning.

10: Security Guard (monitor and protect property, people and assets, responding to potential threats and ensuring overall safety). Most common industries: security and investigations, hospitality, food and beverage services.

11: Community Planner/ Community Development Planner (develop plans for land use, particularly public land, and design programs for infrastructure and community development that align with community values and support sustainable growth).
