ALTUS – Southwest Oklahoma Republican Women will host a forum for candidates in two open seats on the Altus City Council.

A buffet will be served at 5 p.m. followed by the forum at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at Friendship Inn, 1800 N. Main St. The meal cost is $12.93 and includes tax and beverage.

Debbie Davis, president of Southwest Oklahoma Republican Women, said the forum is a tradition for the club.

“We always hold a forum for these elections,” Davis said. “The forum reflects our vision to inform voters of their candidates and the issues they plan to address.”

Candidates Jonathan Bergmark and Dillon Feazel will face off for Ward 1. Councilman John Womack did not file for another term.

Ward 3 incumbent Terrence Filer will face challengers CJ Morris and Malcom Dash.

Ward 2’s Matt Rester did not draw an opponent. Austin Leverett also did not draw an opponent for the Ward 4 seat, for which its current councilman, Brodie Butchee, did not seek another term.

The primary election will be held Feb. 11 and the general election on April 1.
