The number of oil and gas rigs in Oklahoma increased in the past week as did the rig count across the U.S. according to the latest Baker Hughes Co. report.
Oklahoma’s count grew by two in the past week to reach a total of 55, which is 10 more rigs than a year ago. The state saw the gain in the Granite Wash play.
The U.S. count increased by two to reach a nationwide total of 587. The gain included two oil rigs to r each a total of 483 while there was an increase of one gas rig to reach a total of 99. The number of miscellaneous rigs declined one to f ive rigs. The offshore rig count is unchanged at 13.
The U.S. total is down 26 from last year’s count of 613 at this time. The decline included a drop of 23 oil rigs a nd six gas rigs while there was a gain of three miscellaneous rigs.
The latest rig count in other states included Texas which was unchanged from 274 last week, New Mexico at 100 with no change and North Dakota at 32, same as last week.
Louisiana was unchanged at 30 while Kansas, according to the Red Top Rig Report, dropped three to a total of 21 rigs. Baker Hughes indicated Colorado stayed at eight rigs while Ohio saw no change with a count of 12. Pennsylvania’s count of 18 was same as a week ago while the count in Utah slipped by one to 11. West Virginia remained at eight and Wyoming was unchanged with a total of 21 rigs.
Alaska remained at 10 rigs and California’s count increased one to six total rigs.
