The latest Baker Hughes Co. rig count shows activity in Oklahoma remained steady with a total of 55 operating oil and gas rigs, the same total as the previous week. The U.S. total dropped by three to 584 active total rigs.
Oklahoma’s count of 55 rigs compares to 45 reported by Baker Hughes a year ago. The U.S. total included a loss of four oil rigs to 479 while there was gain of two gas rigs for a total of 101. The miscellaneous rig count fell one to 4.
The latest national total is 21 fewer than a year ago when the rig count was 605. The decline included a loss of 20 oil rigs and one gas rig while miscellaneous saw no change. There was a gain of one offshore rig for a total of 14.
Oklahoma’s total of 55 compared to Texas where the count fell by three to 271 rigs and to New Mexico where the total was unchanged at 100 rigs. North Dakota remained at 332 rigs while Louisiana increased its count by three to 33 rigs.
The Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil & Gas Service Inc. in Wichita showed the Kansas total fell one to 20 rigs.
Baker Hughes reported Colorado’s count was unchanged at eight rigs and Ohio’s total declined by three to nine rigs. Pennsylvania remained at 18 rigs and Utah continued with 11. West Virginia was unchanged at eight rigs and the count in Wyoming stayed at 21. Alaska saw no change with 10 drilling rigs and California remained at six.
