Fort Sill to celebrate Army’s 250th birthday

From staff reports Fort Sill will host a public celebration June 13, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., to mark the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday.

The milestone event will be free and open to the public.

Visitors will witness a powerful blend of Army history and innovation through live fire demonstrations of historic and current artillery systems, a drone swarm display, field and air defense artillery static displays, food trucks, and family-friendly attractions.

“This event celebrates 250 years of the Army’s proud legacy while showcasing the modern capabilities of the Fires force,” said Maj. Gen. Phil Brooks, commanding general of the Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill. “We invite the public to join us on this historic day to honor our Soldiers, past and present.”

Non-Department of Defense ID cardholders must obtain a visitor pass at the Fort Sill Visitor Control Center located at Bentley Gate. Visitors are encouraged to preregister online through the Fort Sill access system or arrive early to allow for processing time.
