Hudson Prince retained to widen East Grand Avenue

Body

CHICKASHA – Hudson Prince will provide engineering and utility coordination for the East Grand Avenue widening project.

An additional eastbound lane will be created from US-81/Fourth Street connecting to the existing fourlane approximately 600 feet east. The new section will be designed for a speed limit of 35 mph.

The driveway directly adjacent to US-81/Fourth Street accessing Chickasha’s Quality Inn will be removed. A left-turn lane will be added at the existing driveway currently accessing the shopping center with Jimmy’s Egg. Also, a storm sewer will be relocated during the widening project.

The property owner at Fourth and Grand requested the additional lane to accommodate truck traffic and truck drivers, “who are some of the largest customers at the Chickasha inn,” the Chickasha Municipal Authority was informed.

Average traffic volume in that vicinity is 6,400 vehicles per day, according to readily available data.

The master services agreement with Hudson Prince provides that the engineering consultants will develop a set of f inal plans which will include all grading, drainage, surfacing, traffic, and erosion control details necessary for construction of the project.

Their services will include visual inspection, photo documentation, design survey, right-of-way staking, roadway design, traffic design, retaining wall design. geotechnical investigation, and utility relocation coordination.

The consultants expect to coordinate utility relocations with 10 utility owners during the plan development stage. However, the consultants will not be required to prepare any utility relocation plans. If Hudson Prince is required to prepare any utility relocation plans, “a supplemental agreement will be required for the additional effort.”

Plans and specifications are expected to be prepared by February 2026.

The CMA voted Aug. 4 to pay Hudson Prince $269,493 for its work on the project.
