Comanche County appoints Hilliary to fill CCIDA position

LAWTON – The Comanche County Board of Commissioners have tapped a local businessman to fill a vacancy on the Comanche County Industrial Development Authority, the entity that handles economic development for the county.

With little discussion, the board voted 3-0 Sept. 2 to appoint Edward Hilliary to replace former CCIDA member George Moses, who resigned from the authority in August.

Hilliary earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Cameron University and is a member of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s board of commissioners. He also is co-publisher of Southwest Ledger and co-CEO of Hilliary Communications.

Hilliary’s term on the CCIDA began Sept. 2 and will run until June 30, 2026, when he will be eligible for reappointment.

County officials believe Hilliary will bring valuable insights to the CCIDA, Commission Chairman Josh Powers said in an Aug. 27 letter notifying Hilliary of his appointment.

“I extend my sincere appreciation for your willingness to serve our community in this capacity,” Powers said. “Your commitment to the betterment of Comanche County is commendable, and we are honored to welcome you to our team of dedicated trustees.”
