From staff reports The City of Chickasha and Aria Development will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 to celebrate the start of construction on five new retail stores: Burlington Coat Factory, Five Below, PetSmart, T.J. Maxx, and Ulta Beauty Supply.

Developer Sassan Moghadam, founder of Aria Development, will be joined by Mayor Zach Grayson and Chickasha City Council members to ceremonially break ground on the new development.

“I’m glad to see more opportunities coming to Chickasha for our citizens and surrounding residents,” Grayson said. “This will not only provide an increased variety of shopping options, but it will also bring more jobs and increase our economic vitality.”

Moghadam announced expansion of the existing East Grand Avenue development area prior to the Chickasha City Council meeting Sept. 2. The five retailers will occupy a building encompassing approximately 73,000 square feet. The development will be south of Jimmy’s Egg, Interurban, and Tractor Supply, near US-81 and Interstate 44.

City Manager Jim Crosby said the momentum around this new development is energizing for the city and its residents.

“We are proud to welcome these major brands to Chickasha,” he said. “This groundbreaking represents more than new stores. It symbolizes continued investment, new jobs, and helps continue building a bright future for our community.”

At the Sept. 2 City Council meeting, Moghadam also shared that McAlister’s Deli and Wingstop will set up shop in Chickasha, with openings planned soon after the first of the year.

“We’re excited to see that national retailers recognize our trade area now exceeds 120,000 people,” said Jim Cowan, executive director of the Chickasha Economic Development Council.

Based on current projections, city officials believe that at least some of the new retail stores will be open by the end of 2026.
