Lawton Public Library continues Career Readiness series

LAWTON - The Lawton Public Library will continue its Career Readiness series Wednesday, Sept. 9, with workplace-focused classes at the Main Library, 110 SW 4th St., followed by the 2026 Patriot Hiring Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Lawton Farmers Market.

The Sept. 9 programs, presented by the Comanche County Health Department, will include Managing Anger from noon to 1 p.m. and Conflict Management from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The sessions will focus on navigating difficult emotions and situations and communicating effectively in the workplace. Participants who register for both sessions will receive a light lunch while supplies last. Registration is available by calling (580) 581-3450, ext. 4, or emailing libraryevents@lawtonok.gov.

The series began Thursday with a Resume Writing Class presented by Oklahoma Rehabilitation Services. The class covered resume formatting, organization and ways applicants can create a professional resume for prospective employers.

The Patriot Hiring Fair will give job seekers an opportunity to meet with employers on site. Attendees are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes and come prepared for interviews. Veterans and individuals with sensory-friendly needs may enter beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The hiring fair is presented by the OESC, Oklahoma Rehabilitation Services, Lawton Area Transit System, South Central Workforce Board and Lawton Public Library.

Also on Sept. 10, the library will offer “Job Searching in the Digital Age” from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Main Library. The session will cover social media, digital job-search tools and strategies for finding employment.
