Funds will be used to help construction of all-inclusive playground ect
LAWTON – A proj to build an all-inclusive playground received more funding recently, as the Arvest Foundation made a $10,000 donation to the Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority.
The donation was announced during the Children United Southwest Oklahoma Breakfast at Apache Casino Hotel. These funds will help with construction of the all-inclusive playground, which is a joint venture between Children United and LETA, at Elmer Thomas Park in Lawton.
“We were absolutely ecstatic to hear about the donation. It’s not every day you get a large donation, but Arvest has always been that company. They’ve always been a great community partner,” LETA Chairman Jay Burk said. “Our fundraising has been amazing so far. We’ve all worked hard together to get it done. We’re going to (begin building) soon and this gets us one step closer.”
Children United is made up of local community-minded individuals involved in the housing industry who came together, along with LETA, to get this playground built.
“Being able to give back to our community is the one thing we care most about at Arvest. It is our pleasure to make this donation to Children United,” Chris Toomey, Mortgage Manager for Arvest Bank Southwest Oklahoma said. “As soon as we were made aware of the vision that Joe Chesko (head of Children United) had for an inclusive playground for children with limited mobility we knew we wanted to be a part of this project. The number of community members, businesses and institutions who have gotten behind this wonderful project makes us proud to be part of this initiative.”
