AT A GLANCE: H.E. Bailey Turnpike

• During the first seven months of this year, OHP troopers on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike wrote an average of almost 5.8 traffic tickets per day, 175 per month.

• Users of Oklahoma’s turnpikes are cautioned about their obligation to pay the tolls. The two motorists on the H.E. Bailey who failed to do so this year each received a $249 ticket.

• To put that in perspective, the toll for an automobile or pickup traveling the H.E.B. from the Oklahoma/ Texas state line to Interstate 44 in Oklahoma City is $5.10 with a PikePass or $6.25 if paying with cash. For an 18-wheel semi-trailer rig, the toll for that same route is $15.25 with a PikePass or $18.25 cash.
