More than 1,500 guests were served at the Lawton-Fort Sill Armed Services YMCA’s annual “Y Fry” fish fry Tuesday, Sept. 17. With 200 hours of preparing and serving the patrons, volunteers helped make AS- MYCA’s 11-hour fundraising campaign a success, said the organization’s newly appointed executive director, Lori Garrison.

In a press release, Garrison thanked the volunteers and the sponsors by saying, “It is due to the generosity of our donors that we are able to bring this event to the community annually. We sincerely, cannot thank them enough. In the true spirit of the ASYMCA’s mission, proceeds from the Y Fry will help allow us to continue vital programs to benefit military families in the area.

“Whether you donated, sponsored or attended the event, you have played a significant role in improving the lives of our beloved military members and their families,” she added.

ASYMCA volunteers served another 100 dinners to soldiers in the field.
