LAWTON - With music, line dancing, food trucks, games and a pair of rare black-and-white Clydesdales in the lineup, scores of Lawtonians enjoyed the Ware on C Block Party Thursday evening.

Hosted by members of the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce, the family-friendly event gave residents, businesses and community leaders a chance to interact with one another and have fun.

As the slightly cooler temperatures made it safer for pets to attend the outdoor event, festivalgoers and a few of their four-legged friends browsed through booths filled with arts, crafts and an array of goods. Between rounds of Cornhole and dancing, they dined on their favorite food truck dishes and refreshments and learned more about what several local organizations have to offer.

Platt College students had a booth set up and gave free health screenings, and Lawton Family YMCA had several knowledgeable staff members on hand to relay information about their programs.

Towering above the crowd, standing close to 18 hands high (6 foot at the shoulder), a pair of 2,000-pound Clydesdale horses from Express Clydesdale Ranch in Yukon were on hand for photos as well. Lead horse, Topper, and his teammate Tigger are always crowd favorites, said the animals’ handlers Garrett and Bailey Bovard.

Between dancing, dining, browsing, playing Cornhole and seeing the “gentle giant” Clydesdales, October’s Ware on C Block Party proved to be a lot of fun for the shopkeepers, vendors and families alike.

November’s Ware on C Block Party is scheduled for Thurs- day, Nov. 7. From 5:30-8 p.m., at the intersection of Fourth and C Avenue in Lawton.
