Housing projects underway in Chickasha

CHICKASHA – The final plat for a multifamily development in southwest Chickasha received the City Council’s blessing, joining a handful of other residential projects built or under construction here. Haven Pointe Addition, at South 22nd Street and West Nevada Avenue, features 4.

EDC helps Chickasha move forward

CHICKASHA – The principal mission of the Economic Development Council is to “shine a positive light on Chickasha,” Director Jim Cowan told the City Council recently. As an illustration, a variety of new businesses were launched in Chickasha “in the past year,” he related.

Chickasha Police Department upgrades its fleet

CHICKASHA – The City Council authorized Police Chief Goebel Music on Oct. 2 to buy another police patrol vehicle, the second such purchase in six weeks. The Chickasha Police Department will acquire a 2021 Dodge Durango Pursuit all-wheel-drive vehicle from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
A federal grant will finance most of the cost of constructing new trails throughout Chickasha’s 50-acre Shannon Springs Park, and performing erosion control measures around the 4.5-acre pond in the park. Rebuilt trails slated for Chickasha park delayed

CHICKASHA – A $1.8 million project to build a loop around Shannon Springs Park will be delayed for a year, to 2025.

‘Rock Island Weekend’ draws crowds to Chickasha

CHICKASHA – A throng of tourists and locals alike packed downtown Chickasha from daylight to dark-thirty Saturday for fun and games during the first-ever “Rock Island Weekend.” The festivities included the sixth annual Food Truck Championship, sponsored by SaltCreek Casino.

USAO plans street festival Aug. 31

CHICKASHA — A street festival sponsored by the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma will be held downtown on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 6-8:30 p.m. The 200 block of Chickasha Avenue will be barricaded from 3-9 p.m. “to allow time for set-up and tear-downs,” the City Council was told.
