City OKs funding for public service organizations

LAWTON – Lawton will divide $107,410 in financial aid among eight public service organizations in fiscal year 2021.   The Lawton City Council has funding, which comes from a federal Community Development Block Grant, for the following programs:   C.

LAWTON – Lawton Mayor Stan Booker apologized Tuesday for his role in an inaccurate report that a city staffer was under investigation.

LAWTON – A contract to replace the aged lights at the tennis courts in Greer Park with new high-efficiency lights was awarded Tuesday by the City Council. Of the four proposals, Third Generation Electrical of Tulsa was the lowest responsive bidder and won the contract with a price of $199,371.

LAWTON – Two Lawton City Council members seeking re-election have opponents, but a third council member has been re-elected unopposed. Ward 7 Councilwoman Onreka Johnson is opposed by Cindy Edgar, and Ward 8 Councilman Randy Warren has drawn a challenge from Doug Wells.

Lawton City Council proposes more than $100 million in capital improvements

LAWTON - During an Oct. 1 special meeting, Lawton City Council members voted to add more than $100 million in capital improvement projects for the city. “We are a community worth investing in, and we are investing in our future,” said Lawton City Manager Michael Cleghorn.
