Lawton City Councilman Jay Burk is out on bond after pleading not guilty to driving under the influence, a charge which resulted in Burk’s arrest Saturday night in Lawton. Burk was arrested by Lawton police shortly after 2 a.m.

OSBI confirmed Friday Lawton City Councilman Jay Burk is the subject of an active investigation into undisclosed allegations of impropriety.

Hilliary Media Group LLC, doing business as the Southwest Ledger, filed a lawsuit against the City of Lawton and City Councilman Jay Burk alleging violations of the state’s Open Records Act. The lawsuit was filed April 21 in Comanche County District Court.

LAWTON - Lawtonians living in Ward 5 were surprised last week by a statement released by Lawton City Councilman Dwight Tanner. Tanner, who has served Ward 5 since July 2013, has decided to not seek reelection for the seat during the Sept. 10 Special Election.
