Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 1.18 inches for the week of Aug. 16-22, with the southeast district recording the highest total at 2.96 inches.

Drought conditions were rated 15% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, up one point from the previous week, according to the Aug. 17 U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Additionally, 2% of the state was in the moderate drought to exceptional drought category, down one point from the previous week.

Statewide temperatures averaged in the high 70s. Topsoil moisture and subsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly adequate to short.

Here’s a look at how crops performed for the week:

Row crops: Corn dough reached 65%, down 10 points from the previous year and 15 points from normal. Corn dented reached 20%, down 19 points from the previous year and 26 points from normal.

Sorghum headed reached 84%, up four points from the previous year and three points from normal. Sorghum coloring reached 32%, down six points from the previous year and seven points from normal.

Soybeans blooming reached 78%, up one point from both the previous year and normal. Soybeans setting pods reached 45%, down one point from the previous year and two points from normal.

Peanuts pegging reached 82%, down two points from the previous year and six points from normal. Peanuts mature reached 6%, down eight points from the previous year and one point from normal.

Cotton setting bolls reached 70%, down eight points from the previous year and nine points from normal. Cotton bolls opening reached 5%, down 10 points from the previous year and two points from normal.

Hay: The third cutting of alfalfa hay reached 80%, down nine points from both the previous year and normal. The fourth cutting of alfalfa hay reached 28%, down eight points from the previous year and three points from normal.

The second cutting of other hay reached 71%, up seven points from the previous year and six points from normal. The third cutting of other hay reached 10%, up seven points from the previous year and four points from normal.

Pasture and livestock: Pasture and range condition was rated at 86% good to fair. Livestock condition was rated at 87% good to fair.
