The Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians is teaming up with optometrists across the state this weekend for Giving Sight Day, an event designed to provide free vision care for people in need.

“Clear vision and healthy eyes are gifts that all Oklahomans should enjoy,” OAOP President Dr. Randi Day said in a news release. “That’s why we are committed to providing complimentary services to those who would be otherwise unable to access optometric care.”

Some optometry clinics will participate in Giving Sight Day on Friday, while others will participate on Saturday. People should call the clinic of their choice ahead of time for more information about Giving Sight Day operating hours, reservations and other protocols.

The following Lawton clinics are participating in the event:

* Dr. Kevin Steib at Eye Care on Gore, Lawton. The clinic will be open for Giving Sight Day from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, and people should call the office at (580) 355-3036 to make an appointment.

* Dr. Chris Swanson at Complete Eye Care, Lawton. The clinic will be open for walk-in appointments as available from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday. Call (580) 355-2020 for more information.
