OKLAHOMA CITY - A bill designed to prevent individuals convicted of sex crimes from contacting their victims was signed by Republican Governor Kevin Stitt, recently. House Bill 1881 directs the courts to issue “order of no contact” to those individuals who are convicted of sexual abuse or exploitation crimes.

Known as Kaylee’s Law, the measure state Rep. Scott Fetgatter, R-Okmulgee, said was named after a constituent in his district. “The victim for whom this law is named was contacted by the man serving prison time for crimes against her,” Fetgatter said in a media statement.

“He sent her a birthday card, pictures and newspaper clippings talking about how beautiful she’d grown up to be. This is akin to a fresh assault against this young lady who had begun to heal and move on with her life. This law puts orders inplace to protect such victimsfrom such contact.”

House Bill 1881 goes into effect Nov. 1
