Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 0.08 of an inch for the week of Sept. 6-12, with the southeast district recording the highest total at 0.43 of an inch.

Drought conditions were rated 28% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, up 10 points from the previous week, according to the Sept. 7 U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Additionally, 6% of the state was in the moderate to exceptional drought category, down one point from the previous week.

Statewide, temperatures averaged in the high 70s. Topsoil and subsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly short to adequate.

Here’s a look at how crops fared for the week:

Small grains: Winter wheat planted reached 8%, up three points from both the previous year and normal.

Row crops: Corn dough reached 99%. Corn dented reached 82%, up four points from the previous year and three points from normal. Mature corn reached 44%, down six points from the previous year and two points from normal.

Sorghum headed reached 97%, down two points from the previous year and one point from normal. Sorghum coloring reached 68%, down three points from both the previous year and normal. Mature sorghum reached 26%, up one point from the previous year but down seven points from normal.

Soybeans blooming reached 97%, up three points from the previous year and four points from normal. Soybeans setting pods reached 78%, up two points from the previous year and three points from normal. Soybeans dropping leaves reached 11%, down seven points from the previous year and one point from normal.

Mature peanuts reached 34%, unchanged from the previous year but up 10 points from normal.

Cotton setting bolls reached 95%, down four points from both the previous year and normal. Cotton bolls opening reached 23%, down 11 points from the previous year and 12 points from normal.

Hay: The fourth cutting of alfalfa hay reached 60%, down 15 points from the previous year and six points from normal.

The second cutting of other hay reached 88%, up nine points from the previous year and eight points from normal. The third cutting of other hay reached 28%, up three points from the previous year and one point from normal.

Pasture and livestock: Pasture and range condition was rated at 81% fair to good. Livestock condition was rated at 86% good to fair.
