Motorists lined up August 12 at an Oklahoma Turnpike Authority “PikePass” trailer parked at the rest stop near Chickasha on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike.

The OTA moves the trailer “all over the state to help people open accounts,” agency spokesman Jack Damrill said.

The Turnpike Authority encourages users of toll roads to get a PikePass account since the OTA has begun rolling out “cashless tolling” throughout the state’s 625-mile turnpike system.

Conversion of the Kilpatrick Turnpike in Oklahoma City began on July 25, and a $7.4 million contract to convert the H.E. Bailey was awarded on July 27; that project is expected to be completed in the spring/summer of 2022, Damrill said.
