Whenever football returns to Lawton Public Schools, the teams will play on new turf installed at Cameron Stadium for the first time in 12 years, according to LPS Athletic Director Gary Dees. The work was performed this month by FieldTurf of Oklahoma City, at a cost of approximately $400,000. Some of the old turf was donated to Cameron University for use in new outdoor batting cages for the school’s baseball and softball players, and some will be used for targets on the golf driving range, CU Athletic Director Jim Jackson said.
