City replacing aging water meters in Lawton

LAWTON – The city’s Meter Services Division is making progress in its program to replace residential and commercial water meters, such as the faulty unit that leaked into a residential garage for 42 days.

Elgin delays action on $2M Watts Road project

ELGIN – Faced with a nearly $2 million bid for rebuilding Watts Road from Northeast 75th Street to Tony Creek Road, the Elgin City Council decided to delay action on the issue. The council voted 4-0 April 10 to tab le Biggs Concrete Construction’s bid to do the work for about $1.

Developer plans to build 5 more homes

CHICKASHA – Five lots owned by the city were sold recently to a developer who announced plans to build houses on the property. Builders Investment Group bought lots at 810 Illinois, 617 N. 10th Street, 1001 Michigan, 1219 S. First Street, and 1315 Shepherd.

Southwest Oklahoma Legislative Update House of Representatives

OKLAHOMA CITY – Speaker Charles McCall (R-Atoka) and Senate Pro Tem Greg Treat (R-Oklahoma City) announced April 11 proposed joint legislation pertaining to illegal immigration. It will be filed this week, according to a House press release, and will create the crime of impermissible occupation.
