Frustrated Duncan residents voice complaints about high utility bills

DUNCAN – Unhappy with their utility bills, some residents aired their frustration with the city’s utility department recently. Residents flocked to the Oct. 10 Duncan City Council meeting to talk about their bills and ask city officials for help.

LAWTON – Area residents flocked to McMahon Memorial Auditorium recently, armed with questions about Westwin Elements’ plans to build a nickel-and-cobalt refinery in Lawton. Westwin representatives fielded questions from the public during a town hall meeting Oct. 11 at the auditorium.

Publication snafu forces new Ward 4 election date

ALTUS – A new election date has been set for the city’s vacant Ward 4 seat after a publication notice required by state law was not fulfilled, City Manager Gary Jones said. City officials submitted the legal notice to the local newspaper, but the notice was not published in a timely manner.

City chooses 10 roads for repaving

LAWTON – The city’s Streets and Bridges Council Committee recently approved a list of road projects for the Lawton City Council to consider. The projects on the list are all eligible for repaving using a process known as mill and overlay, but the list does not include any major road repairs.
