Contract awarded to replace dilapidated Chickasha sewer

CHICKASHA — A section of sanitary sewer main in Chickasha that has been in poor condition for the last four years will be replaced under a $317,500 contract. The Chickasha Municipal Authority awarded the job to Matthews Trenching Co. of Oklahoma City, the lowest of three bidders for the work.

Lawton residents suggest ideas for Elmer Thomas Park plan

LAWTON — Lawton resident Rebecca Zamarripa said she would like to see the city expand some of the attractions at Elmer Thomas Park and find ways to keep the park clean. “I’ve been here since the seventh grade when Elmer Thomas at first was just a little lake,” she said.

Blackwell ex-mayor admits guilt; 2 other defendants awaiting trial

A former mayor of Blackwell admitted being an embezzler, committing fraud and engaging in a conspiracy. His two alleged co-conspirators, who include the city manager of Tonkawa, are due back in Kay County District Court in August.
