Deputy city manager retires

LAWTON – Deputy City Manager Richard Rogalski recently retired from the city of Lawton after 21 years. Rogalski joined the city staff in 2001 with the Engineering Division before becoming the planning director in 2005, according to a news release from City Hall.

MMJ tax receipts lowest in 28 months

OKLAHOMA CITY – Proceeds from the state tax on medical marijuana fell by half a million dollars between June and July, to the lowest level in 28 months. The 7% excise tax on MMJ generated a little over $4.2 million last month, the least amount since April 2020, when it produced $4.3 million.

Owens Center to close Thursday, Friday

LAWTON – The Owens Center, 1405 SW 11th St., will be closed from 3-8 p.m. Thursday and again from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday to accommodate the Southwest Oklahoma Stand Down for Homeless Veterans event.

Edmond man accused of caretaker abuse

OKLAHOMA CITY - An Edmond man has been charged with caretaker abuse following an investigation by the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. Gerald Ngwa, 37, was arrested July 22 by an MFCU agent and an Oklahoma County sheriff’s deputy.
