Lawton lawyers rise to national prominence

What do Ferris Avenue, Gore Boulevard and Elmer Thomas Park all have in common? All three locations are named after men who began their political careers in Lawton as lawyers in 1901, when the Kiowa-Comanche-Apache (KCA) Reservation was opened for homesteaders.

LAWTON — A Lawton-area agency working to help victims of domestic and sexual violence will again host an annual walk intended to call awareness to the problem.   New Directions Domestic and Sexual Violence Services will host their sixth annual Domestic Violence Awareness Walk Oct. 5.

As state marks its 10,000th COVID-19 death, lagging areas show vaccination progress

More Oklahomans are reaching fully vaccinated status in ZIP codes that have been lagging most of the summer, according to the latest biweekly vaccination data from the Oklahoma State Department of Health.   The statewide COVID-19 vaccination rate was 46.6% this week, compared to 54.

City OKs rebate deal for retail center

LAWTON – Lawton City Council signed off Tuesday on an agreement that would help the developer of a proposed retail complex in west Lawton cover the cost of improving the site. The council unanimously approved a sales tax rebate agreement with Cache Properties Inc.
