Former Tillman County deputy arrested, charged

A former Tillman County sheriff's deputy was arrested Sept. 16 in Pontotoc County on suspicion of assaulting an inmate at the Tillman County Jail.
Kacey Brenton Shaver, 32, is accused of unlawfully using a Taser on someone when he worked for the Tillman County Sheriff's Office.

Students who caught COVID have mostly recovered

LAWTON – Almost 90% of Lawton Public Schools students who have received positive COVID-19 test results since August 12 have recovered, according to district figures released Tuesday.
Numbers show 280 of the 315 students have recovered from the illness with the remaining 35 still in isolation.

FORT SILL NATIONAL CEMETERY — A small group of people listened Friday as Matthew Priest recounted his memories of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.
Priest, who serves as assistant manager of the Fort Sill and Fort Gibson National Cemeteries, was a fifth-grader 20 years ago.

Stitt addresses McGirt ruling in Duncan appearance

DUNCAN — The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling that much of eastern Oklahoma is still tribal land could spell trouble for the state, Gov. Kevin Stitt said Wednesday.
