OKLAHOMA CITY – Businesses of all types are facing labor shortages, but many are finding ways to cope with the lack of employees, according to Digital.com. The protracted coronavirus pandemic has resulted in Americans re-evaluating their relationship to their jobs.

Lawton labor shortage could reach ‘critical’ level

LAWTON — COVID-19-related illnesses are contributing to a labor shortage that could eventually harm the city’s ability to serve people effectively, City Manager Michael Cleghorn said Monday.

Up their alley

ALTUS - Kenton McKnight’s dream came true 16 years ago when he and wife Emelia bought Town & Country Bowling Center. McKnight, born and raised in Altus, had bowled numerous times at the old alley which was built in 1959.

Motorists lined up August 12 at an Oklahoma Turnpike Authority “PikePass” trailer parked at the rest stop near Chickasha on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike. The OTA moves the trailer “all over the state to help people open accounts,” agency spokesman Jack Damrill said.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Department of Labor Licensing Window will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays until further notice, State Labor Commissioner Leslie Osborn announced. Closure will be only temporary, she said.

Sidewalks replaced in Roosevelt

ROOSEVELT – Nearly four-tenths of a mile of thin, narrow sidewalks in Roosevelt are being torn out and replaced with thicker and wider walkways for pedestrians.
