Projects listed below are commercial building permits for the year 2020, currently being reviewed since May 18: 10 SW Second St. The Red River Vet Center applied for a building permit for a fire suppression system. The system is valued at a cost over $15,000 and is ready to be issued.

Comanche Co. Courthouse reopens June 1

LAWTON – After a 74-day shutdown because of the coronavirus threat, the Comanche County Courthouse will reopen to the public June 1. The building will operate on shorter hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hofmeister lauds dyslexia, school transparency bills

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister praised five bills the Legislature passed designed to strengthen student support and improve transparency in education. Gov. Kevin Stitt signed all five bills last week.

State workers owing income taxes will lose some wages, not jobs

OKLAHOMA CITY – Legislation that requires garnishment of wages of state employees who are behind on paying state income taxes, rather than termination of employment, has been enacted. Governor Stitt signed House Bill 3068 by Rep. Lundy Kiger, R-Poteau, and Sen. Dewayne Pemberton, R-Muskogee.
