The value of Lawton construction permits topped $10 million in August, with half of that accounted for by projects at the Firehawk Aerospace plant in west Lawton.
Firehawk, based in Addison, Texas, has said it will invest $45 million for the plant, which will produce solid rocket motors. The city issued three permits totaling $21.55 million in July, and last month the company added another $5 million permit for an additional building.
The Firehawk plant is under construction between Goodyear Boulevard and Northwest 112th Street north of the Goodyear tire plant.
Residential permits totaled $1.9 million in August.
Builders purchased nine permits for new single-family homes.
Other larger commercial permits included:
•A $1.5 million permit for remodeling at the Fires Innovation Science and Technology Accelerator (FISTA) at Central Plaza in downtown Lawton;
•A $1.29 million permit for construction of a new medical building at 3620 W. Lee;
•A $250,000 remodeling permit to construct indoor pickleball court at the VooDoo Hydro store at 2802 W. Lee; and
•A $50,000 remodeling permit for Memorial Health Lawton Community Health Pediatrics, 2701 SW Cornell.
