A lease-purchase agreement for acquisition of a new “crash truck” for Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport was approved by the Lawton City Council. The city intends to buy a new Airport Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) truck – an Oshkosh Striker-3000 6x6 roof turret – from Siddons-Martin Emergency Group of Houston, Texas. The purchase won’t be consummated until the financing is fully executed. The city received four bids on the vehicle financing, and Tuesday night the council chose Liberty National Bank of Lawton’s proposal: 4.4% interest on a five-year term. The highest bid was 5.8919%. The total estimated lease payment will be $1,952,098, which includes the $1,729,803 sticker price for the truck and an estimated $222,295 in interest during the five-year period. The expense will be paid from capital improvement sales tax dollars, city records indicate.
