LAWTON – The Comanche County Courthouse will remain closed for two more weeks, Central District County Commissioner Johnny Owens announced January 29. The building was closed to the general public on November 25, 2020, because of an increase in COVID-19 cases in the county and across the state.

LAWTON – For the second time this year, the Comanche County Courthouse will be closed to the public for several weeks because of the statewide resurgence of the coronavirus. District 2 County Commissioner Johnny Owens said the courthouse doors would be locked after 4 p.m.

LAWTON – A vote on a proposal to extend Comanche County’s threeeighths of a cent sales tax for 10 years will be held next spring. Comanche County’s commissioners Tuesday morning unanimously endorsed a resolution that scheduled the election for March 2, 2021.

This mattress, trash bags, wooden box and broken shelves were laying in the bar ditches on either side of Railroad Street within a mile of Peacan Road on Monday.

LAWTON – To comply with a State Health Department mandate to admit no more inmates to the Comanche County Detention Center for the time being because of a coronavirus outbreak, Comanche County has sent its new detainees arrested over the past three months to Tillman County.

Comanche County Detention Center administration has denied Ledger staff an interview and/or a tour of the facilities.
