From staff reports The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry has confirmed the first Asian longhorned tick found in Mayes County.Oklahoma is the 20th state to confirm the tick’s presence since it was discovered in 2017 in New Jersey.

LAWTON – Comanche County Detention Center employees will start getting paid every two weeks instead of once a mon th.The Comanche County Facilities Authority, which is made up of the three county commissioners, voted 3-0 Aug. 5 to switch jail employees’ payroll from monthly to biweekly.

The City of Lawton received another notice of violation from the state Department of Environmental Quality last month because of unacceptable releases from its troubled sewage treatment plant.The notice City Hall received July 30 cited “discharge without a permit” as the primary issue.
