Progress underway on ‘dreamer’s’ projects

CHICKASHA — Chet Hitt’s construction crews continue making progress on several projects associated with the California businessman’s multimillion-dollar Town’s End development in Old Town.

CHICKASHA — The Chickasha Chamber of Commerce observed its centennial anniversary on Aug. 1, marking a century of fostering business growth, community development, and prosperity. To commemorate the occasion the City Council proclaimed August 1 as “Chickasha Chamber Day.

Industrial transformer falls onto Chickasha street

CHICKASHA — A 31.5-ton electric transformer being transported from south Texas to Oklahoma City slipped off a flatbed trailer here July 26, blocking a major intersection for six hours. No one was hit and no vehicles were damaged, but a section of curb was chipped.

LAWTON — The field of candidates to replace former state Sen. John Michael Montgomery is getting crowded. Five candidates – three Republicans and two Democrats – have announced plans to run for the District 32 seat in the Oklahoma Senate ahead of the candidate filing period.

LAWTON — City officials pledged recently to provide funds for a proposed center to help victims of sexual assault find the support they need. The Lawton City Council voted unanimously July 25 to approve a limited support agreement with the H.E.L.P.
