Okla. cities using alternate power sources for vehicles

OKLAHOMA CITY – Alternative sources for powering municipal vehicle fleets are being tested in Oklahoma. The City of Lawton, for example, has no electric vehicles but does own several trash collection trucks that are powered with compressed natural gas, City Manager Michael Cleghorn reported.

Oklahoma rainfall averages 1.30 inches

Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 1.30 inches for the week of March 21-27. Drought conditions were rated 87% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, down five points from the previous week, according to the March 22 U.S. Drought Monitor Report.

Tax deduction for teacher expenses raised to $300

WASHINGTON – Teachers and other educators will be allowed to deduct up to $300 of out-of-pocket classroom expenses when they file their federal income tax return next year, the Internal Revenue Service announced March 29.
