LAWTON — The Board of Comanche County Commissioners postponed action Monday on a request to organize the Pecan Valley Waterworks Association as a rural water district.

LAWTON — A chicken restaurant chain with a global presence and a reputation for down-home, Southern hospitality has come to Lawton, according to Slim Chickens co-founder and CEO Tom Gordon.

LAWTON — The Comanche County Republican Party has canceled its September meeting, citing a rise in COVID-19 cases. CCRP Chairman Daremy Gleaves said the recent rise in COVID-19 cases throughout Comanche County has made finding a meeting place for groups difficult.

Out of room, CCMH erects OSDH emergency overflow tent

LAWTON — COVID-19 cases have increased more than 3000% at Comanche County Memorial Hospital since the end of July, prompting state and local officials to erect a large tent to be used as an additional emergency room waiting area for the foreseeable future.

Ward 2 candidates square off one last time ahead of election

LAWTON — Four of the five candidates for the Ward 2 seat on the Lawton City Council outlined their ideas Tuesday for reducing Lawton’s crime rate and helping the city live within its means.
Early voting is available from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, and Friday, Sept. 10, at the election board, 315 SW Fifth St. in Lawton.

Early voting starts Sept. 9

Early voting begins Thursday, Sept. 9, in Comanche County. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on election day may vote early at the Comanche County Election Board. Early voting is open to all voters, Election Board Secretary Amy Sims said in a news release.
